2 Indian players who failed in limited overs format but could have become stars in Test cricket

It is no secret that there has been a staggering rise in terms of the number of cricket players across the world. Cricket is one of the most-followed sports in the world and it is also the only sport that is being played in three different formats in international cricket.

The three popular formats include Test, ODI and T20I. Besides that, the franchise cricket leagues in the modern era include the IPL, BBL, PSL, CPL, LPL, BPL and SA20 which are being played in the form of a T20 format.

Talking specifically about limited-overs cricket, it is not that easy to cement a spot in the playing XI, especially in the Indian cricket team. Now in this article, let’s take a look at the two Indian players who failed in limited-overs cricket but could have become stars in Test cricket.

1. Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa is one of the players from India who failed to bring the best out of himself in limited-overs cricket. He is one of the Indian players who could have become a star if he was given opportunities to prove his worth in Test cricket.

Robin Uthappa has been statistically very good in numbers as far as the domestic circuit is concerned. He has aggregated as many as 9446 runs in 142 appearances in first-class cricket. Uthappa played 46 ODIs and 13 T20Is for India. Overall, he slammed six fifties in the 50-over format and one fifty in T20Is.

2. Ashok Dinda

Ashok Dinda represented the Indian cricket team in 13 ODIs and 9 T20Is in international cricket. The right-arm paceman took 12 wickets in Tests and 17 wickets in ODIs. He is one of the most successful bowlers in the domestic circuit. The 38-year-old pacer has been one of the integral parts of the Bengal cricket team in domestic cricket.

Ashok Dinda has played 116 games in first-class cricket wherein he took as many as 420 wickets to his name. Despite showcasing his prowess in domestic cricket, he never got a chance to play for India in Test cricket. If he was given opportunities, he would have surely gone on to create waves in red ball cricket.
