Arsenal vs Brentford Team News:

Arsenal:

Mikel Arteta has announced that Arsenal stars Takehiro Tomiyasu and Bernd Leno will both be eligible for selection this weekend after recuperating from injuries to their respective calf muscles and COVID-19-related difficulties. As a consequence of Martinelli’s dismissal at Molineux, the Gunners are unable to call upon him, and either Emile Smith Rowe or Nicolas Pepe are expected to start in his place.

Midfielders Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey are set to keep their spots, while Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard are expected to assist in the final third for centre striker Alexandre Lacazette, who is expected to receive the nod ahead of Eddie Nketiah.

Brentford:

In terms of Brentford, former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen played in a friendly match for the Bees in midweek, but the match on Saturday will be too soon for the 30-year-old Dane to participate. Tarique Fosu-Henry, Julian Jeanvier, and Mathias Jorgensen are all out with injuries, although Ivan Toney, who has missed the past two league games with a calf injury, might return to the matchday squad this weekend after missing the previous two games with the same issue.

Shandon Baptiste and Frank Onyenka will both be looking to push their way into the starting lineup against the Gunners, despite the possibility of Toney’s return.

Arsenal vs Brentford Probable Playing XI:

Arsenal possible starting lineup:

Ramsdale; Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, Tierney; Partey, Xhaka; Saka, Odegaard, Smith Rowe; Lacazette

The One-Liner Explainer:

Since the beginning of the season, Arsenal has struggled to reach the back of the goal, and the fact that they also struggled against Brentford earlier this season suggests that the hosts might be in for another tough match on Saturday. Arteta’s players, though, should be able to clinch a narrow victory and cut the gap on the top four with the support of the Arsenal fans in the bleachers.
