Babar Azam had various issues to deal with in terms of captaincy subject but he has been nothing short of spectacular when it comes to batting. Pakistan‘s run-scoring machine has time and again perfected the art of scoring runs on a consistent basis.

This time too, he showcased his fortitude by letting his bat do the talking during the first of the two-match Test series against the New Zealand national cricket team at the National Cricket Stadium in Karachi.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam won the toss and chose to bat first against Tim Southee-led New Zealand cricket team. The hosts were in all sorts of trouble after losing three wickets for 48 runs but things changed when Babar Azam came out to bat.

The Pakistan captain changed the entire complexion of the game by building the game bit by bit. In the process, he not only scored a fifty but went on to essay his ninth century in red-ball cricket.

Moreover, he also broke multiple records in the ongoing Karachi Test match against the New Zealand cricket team. The Pakistani stalwart went on to break the 16-year-old record held by Pakistan’s batting great Mohammad Yousuf.

It is also worth mentioning here that Babar Azam etched his name into the record books for scoring the most runs in a calendar year by a Pakistan batter, surpassing Mohammad Yousuf’s overall tally of 2435 runs in the year 2006.

Meanwhile, the likes of Babar Azam and Sarfaraz Ahmed stitched together a century-plus partnership for the fifth wicket and took the game away from the visitors. While Babar Azam scored a century, Sarfaraz Ahmed scored a half-century to his name as Pakistan scored 244/4 in 64 overs.
