"Babar needs to be replaced as captain as well", Najam Sethi reveals that Shahid Afridi wanted to remove Babar Azam as the captain of Pakistan

Najam Sethi, head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has come out to discuss the interim selection committee’s intentions to replace star batter Babar Azam as captain of the national side. Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi headed the selection committee in the interim.

Sethi pondered on the fact that rumours circulated about the committee intending to replace Babar as captain before the committee’s appointment, which occurred before Pakistan’s home series against New Zealand.

Sethi spoke on the same in the video. He believes that the 28-year-old Babar will remain Pakistan’s captain for as long as he continues to lead the team to victories. Under Babar’s leadership, Pakistan has grown, and he is widely regarded as one of the finest batters in the world.

“We made an interim selection committee when we took charge. Before the selectors came on board, they told us that there will need to be some changes and Babar needs to be replaced as captain as well,” Sethi said in a video on Waheed Khan’s YouTube channel.

“However, as soon as they were appointed, they said there is no need to replace Babar. I told them you are entitled to change your mind,” he added.

After losing all three home Tests against England and New Zealand, Babar Azam has come under fire for his leadership. In the opinion of many retired cricketers, Shadab Khan should replace Babar Azam as T20 captain.

Before their home season opener against New Zealand, the Pakistan cricket squad has undergone a major overhaul by bringing in a brand-new coaching staff. Najam Sethi, when asked about the new coaching structure, indicated that Mickey Arthur had requested a single captain for the next series and that the team will make a long-term decision after consulting with the head coach.
