Barnsley vs Bournemouth Team News:

Barnsley:

Barnsley striker Carlton Morris and manager Ali Asbaghi both tested positive for Covid-19 at the start of the week, which meant that the two missed the team’s 2-1 loss to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday and are likely to be missing again on Saturday as well. As a result of his concussion, Liam Kitching was unable to go to the City Ground and will be unable to do so again. Callum Brittain and Clarke Oduor are also ruled out, as are Cauley Woodrow and Aapo Halme, who has been missing for an extended period.

Fortunately, there is more good news regarding Josh Benson, who has missed the last two matches due to injury but has returned to training and is in contention to make his return.

Bournemouth:

Jamal Lowe will miss the match after testing positive for Covid-19. Jefferson Lerma, on the other hand, has returned to the squad after completing a period of self-isolation. Chris Mepham was forced off against Hull last weekend with a hamstring injury and will not be available this weekend, while Lewis Cook will be subjected to a late fitness test after missing the game with a hamstring injury.

Upon his return from the Africa Cup of Nations, Jordan Zemura becomes eligible for selection and is a potential replacement for Leif Davis at left-back.

The One-Liner Explainer:

Darren Parker’s Bournemouth side will be under pressure to respond, and they might have a field day against a depleted Barnsley side that seems to have little chance of surviving in the Championship this season. Anything else than a victory on the road would be a major surprise.
