“Better than UAE imo” – Twitter reacts as Sri Lanka is likely to host the Asia Cup 2023

Sri Lankan cricket team used to be a phenomenal force to be reckoned with as far as the international cricket is concerned. With the help of experienced and top-tier players at their disposal, they were able to make a serious bid for the big trophies.

However, once the experienced players called it quits from the sport, the Sri Lankan cricket were in shambles. It took them years to recover and get back on their feet. Today, they have a pool of talented players in their squad who are capable of giving a best shot.

Sri Lankan cricket team stunned the cricket fraternity by beating the Pakistan cricket team in the Asia Cup 2022 final. With that emphatic win, they went on to lift their sixth Asia Cup trophy, which is one less than Team India (the record holders of Asia Cup).

Meanwhile, the cricket fans are currently busy following the sixteenth edition of the IPL. Post the tournament, there are plenty of important events lined up and Asia Cup 2023 is one of the tournaments that the fans are waiting for.

Sri Lanka is likely to host the Asia Cup 2023

The upcoming Asia Cup tournament is slated to be held in the September window. The likes of Team India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Hong Kong will be taking part in the tournament.

Earlier, Pakistan acquired the hosting rights for the Asia Cup 2023. However, there were doubts surrounding India’s participation in the tournament if the competition is staged in Pakistan. The BCCI made it clear that they are not willing to send the players to Pakistan for the Asia Cup.

The BCCI wants to make sure that the entire tournament is held at a neutral venue. In the latest development, it has been learnt that Sri Lanka are likely to host the Asia Cup 2023 tournament, as reported by the Indian Express. It is seen as a perfect venue for all the teams.
