Brentford has welcomed the return to health of Rico Henry and Sergi Canos, but the likes of Josh Dasilva, David Raya, Charlie Goode, and Julian Jeanvier are still in the treatment room for the time being. Frank Onyeka is still away at the African Cup of Nations, and Joel Valencia has left the club to join Alcorcon on loan, so Mathias Jorgensen is considered to have just a minimal chance of returning to the team this week.
It is expected that Alvaro Fernandez will reclaim his spot in the starting XI against Jonas Lossl this weekend and that Henry and Kristoffer Ajer will reclaim their places in the starting lineup as well.
Wolves:
Even though Wolves were without Ruben Neves against Southampton owing to the COVID-19, the Portuguese midfielder will be expected to replace Leander Dendoncker this week after returning to training. After missing time with long-term injuries such as Pedro Neto and Yerson Mosquera, as well as Willy Boly and Hwang Hee-chan, Jonny is closing in on a comeback, while Rayan Ait-Nouri will hope to retain his starting position at left-back while Marcal recovers from a hamstring injury.
Toti Gomes may also be optimistic about making another Premier League start with Romain Saiss away at the Africa Cup of Nations, while highly-rated new acquisition Chiquinho might also find himself in the starting lineup this season.
Brentford will need to take a page out of Ward-book Prowse’s if they are to spring a surprise on their own turf against Wolves in recent weeks, with very few teams finding any fun in front of goal against them in recent weeks. Lage’s team has often failed to exert their influence on enemy territory, as shown by several lacklustre offensive performances. However, with another victory and clean sheet this weekend, we can expect the visitors to continue their continental push.
