"But his form matters" - Twitter reacts as Shreyas Iyer is likely to be fully fit by the 2023 World Cup

Cricket is a highly demanding sport that requires physical and mental fitness in a bid to perform at the highest level. It is quite obvious that fitness involves many other aspects that players need to focus on to be successful in the sport.

The sport involves a lot of running, particularly for fielders who will have to be sharp and decisive on the field. Apart from that, even batters need to sprint when they are looking for 1’s, 2’s or 3’s. We have seen players picking up untimely injuries, which is not a good thing for the team and for the sport.

This is why flexibility is crucial in cricket in order to avoid injuries and to perform certain skills like bowling, fielding, and batting. Not long ago, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja missed the entire edition of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 due to injuries.

Recently, Shreyas Iyer sustained a lower-back injury which forced him to miss the bilateral series. He was also ruled out of the entire edition of the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League due to injury issues. As a result, the KKR management made Nitish Rana the captain for this season.

Meanwhile, in the latest development, Shreyas Iyer is likely to be completely fit by the 2023 World Cup, which is indeed a good thing. The ICC ODI World Cup is scheduled to be held entirely in India for the first time.

The highly-anticipated event is expected to be held in the October-November window. It will be quite interesting to see how Shreyas Iyer will make a comeback in the marquee event. Iyer has scored 1631 runs at an average of 46.6 including two centuries and 14 fifties to his name. He registered his personal best score of 113*.
