“Can’t agree more with the form Shubman is in” – Twitter reacts after Harbhajan Singh said Shubman Gill should open with Rohit Sharma if India wants to win the Test series against Australia

The Border Gavaskar Trophy series between India and Australia is just a few days away from going all guns blazing in Nagpur as the Test opener will kick off at VCA Stadium on February 9 (Thursday).

Team India will be looking forward to the home Test challenge against the Aussies as it is absolutely vital for them to win the series in order to book their place in the second cycle of the ICC World Test Championship final.

The four-match Test series won’t be an easy challenge for both teams, especially for Australia who haven’t won a Test series in India since 2004. India lost only two Tests at home in the last decade which clearly tells us how India dominated the format in their familiar conditions.

Shubman Gill should open with Rohit Sharma if India wants to win the Test series against Australia: Harbhajan Singh

Meanwhile, former Indian off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh is of the view that Shubman Gill should open with skipper Rohit Sharma if India wants to win the Test series against the Aussies.

Shubman Gill has been in scintillating form of late. Recently, he scripted history by becoming the youngest cricketer to smash a double century in One-Day Internationals as he achieved the feat against the Kiwis in the first ODI at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

After that, Shubman Gill also scored a century in the third and final T20I against New Zealand in Ahmedabad. Thus, he became the youngest cricketer to score a century across all three formats of the game.

Shubman Gill has played 13 Tests in his career so far, wherein he scored 736 runs including one century and four fifties to his name at an average of 32. With the kind of form he is in right now, he is expected to dictate terms in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy series.
