As a result of interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, Real Madrid may consider bids for left-back Ferland Mendy
United and Chelsea, according to Defensa Central, are considering making an offer for Real Madrid left defender Ferland Mendy. The 27-year-old seems to have lost a lot of his fans at the Santiago Bernabeu and may be on his way out of the Spanish club soon.
Didier Deschamps chose Eduardo Camavinga over Mendy, a teammate at Real Madrid, and thereby left Mendy off France’s World Cup roster. Many people are uncertain about his future with the squad since some insiders at the club feel he hasn’t been very helpful as of late. Consequently, he must be traded while still at the height of his abilities.
But coach Carlo Ancelotti is considering all of his options, and he may choose to keep the Frenchman on hand since the 27-year-old has been a frequent starter. However, things might shift in the next season.
Mendy’s future is uncertain as Real Madrid prepares for Josko Gvardiol’s possible arrival. If the Croatian defender were to leave, David Alaba would become the starting left back, ending Mendy’s reign as the team’s starting left back.
Manchester United has a plethora of options at left-back, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia locked in a fierce battle for playing time. In a pinch, you can also dial up Brandon Williams. It would seem that the Red Devils are not in a hurry to make a move unless they decide to trade away one of the aforementioned players.
The transfer fee Chelsea paid to acquire Marc Cucurella from Brighton & Hove Albion was astronomical. To make matters worse, the Spaniard has had trouble establishing a positive vibe at Stamford Bridge. As an added blow, Ben Chilwell’s hamstring injury has forced him to miss time.
However, other worrying issues need to be addressed despite their difficulties at left-back. After spending his whole career as Real Madrid’s starting left back, it’s hard to see him ever being relegated to a supporting role with another team. There goes any hope of a transfer to Chelsea or Manchester United.
