Chelsea News: Thomas Tuchel has remarked that Chelsea is not prepared for the next season of the Premier League. The German has said that the preseason was strenuous and exhausting and that the players need one more week of rest before they can perform at their peak levels.
The majority of Chelsea’s preseason was spent in the United States of America, and they only competed in one match on the European continent. In North America, the Blues competed against Arsenal, Club America, and Charlotte before traveling to Italy to play against Udinese twice in the previous week.
Tuchel thinks that the length of the preseason was too long and that it should have been cut down to better prepare the players for the regular season. He also said that the players need more time to heal at this point, and The Mirror reported that he was cited as saying:
“The pre-season was quite a bit longer than usual. Being in the United States for such a long time is taxing and draining, and having to travel again today under these conditions is not an easy or simple task; it is a rather difficult one. After this next weekend, our focus shifts solely to preparing for the match against Everton. The new season is about to start knocking on our door. Even if there are a lot of good things, there is still room for improvement.”
There is still some work to be done. There is no need for us to be ready just now. One more week remains, and after that, it will be time to perform at our highest level. When a new season starts, it’s always a welcome change. This next week, we shall have. There is still a considerable distance to go.”
Chelsea News: What did Thomas Tuchel say?
After Chelsea’s loss to Arsenal in the Florida Cup on July 24, Tuchel said that the club was not yet ready for the new season. In the United States, the Gunners defeated the Blues by a score of 4-0, and they seemed to be a team that was prepared for the next season.
After the match, Tuchel gave his comments on the club website, which were as follows:
“There is no way I can promise that we will be ready in two weeks. Today, I got the opportunity to see an Arsenal squad that had a strategy for playing to a level of weariness and a degree of physical dedication that we were unable to match. And on top of that, a degree of mental commitment, which we are lacking because we have several players who are contemplating quitting and looking into other opportunities. At the time, I believe that this is self-evident.”
On the first day of the new season, Chelsea will kick off their campaign against Everton (August 6).
