Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a forward for Manchester United. He was born on February 5, 1985, in Portugal. He is the captain of the Portuguese National Football Team and is often regarded as one of the greatest footballers to be born. He is a 5 time Ballon d’Or winner and 4 times European Golden shoe winner which is the highest for any European Player. He holds the world record for the most number of international goals scored which is 111 goals.

Manchester United was formed in 1878 as Newton Heath LYR Football Club. In 1902, they changed their name to Manchester United and in 1910, they moved to its current stadium of Old Trafford. Nicknamed as The Red Devils, they have won 20 League Titles, which is the most by any Football club in the English League. United is declared a global brand.

When CR7 started his football career in the Sporting CPs youth team, he wore number 28 and he impressed everyone there with his performance. Many Big clubs were ready to sign this youngster but Sir Alex Ferguson managed Cristiano to Join Manchester United.

Ronaldo was signed to the Devil’s in the 2003-04 season for a transfer fee of £12.24 million which made him the most expensive teenager in English football history. Ronaldo wanted his old club’s number 28 to be assigned to him, but he was given the number 7 which later become his iconic number. With number 7 being assigned to him, it became an extra source of motivation for him as previously this number was worn by legends like Beckham, George Best, and Eric Cantona. Therewith his incredible performance, Ronaldo ended his career in Manchester with 9 Trophies.

Ronaldo moved to Madrid in 2009-10 season with a world record transfer fees of £80 million. Initially, he was given the number 9 during his debut as 7 was not available. After Raul’s departure from the Club, he was given his number 7 and in Madrid also Ronaldo created many Records.

Ronaldo moved to Juventus on July 10, 2018, on a four-year contract and a transfer fee of €100 million. He was given number 7 at Juventus.

On 31 August 2021, Ronaldo made a come back to his first major club Manchester United on a two-year contract with an optional third year with a transfer fee of £12.85 million. There was confusion and suspense that what will possibly be Ronaldo’s jersey number at the United. Cavani had number 7 and Ronaldo’s first jersey number 28 was available. Ronaldo could have number 7 if Cavani agreed to leave that number. Eventually, Cavani agreed to switch on number 21 and Ronaldo got back his number 7.
