"CSK is ready to buy him" - Twitter reacts as Steven Smith confirms that he will be registering for IPL 2024 auction

Australian international Steve Smith is undoubtedly the best Test batter in the world right now. He just keeps getting better over time and his batting average has also been improving every now and then.

On the other hand, he has been pretty good in the other two formats as well. The experienced cricketer was recently seen in action during the Border Gavaskar Trophy series and the ODI series against Team India.

He skippered the team ever so well in Pat Cummins’ absence and helped the team secure a win in the third Test against India at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. With that win, Australia qualified for the ICC World Test Championship Final.

The fourth and final Test between India and Australia ended in a draw. India retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy for the fourth straight time and also qualified for the ICC WTC Final following Sri Lanka’s defeat to New Zealand in Christchurch Test.

Meanwhile, Steve Smith has expressed that he will be registering his name for the next year’s IPL auction. The right-handed batsman didn’t put his name in the IPL 2023 mini-auction that was held in Kochi in late December.

For the record, Steve Smith failed to attract the bidders in the IPL 2022 mega auction in Bengaluru. He registered himself for his base price of INR 2 crore but unfortunately, he went unsold at the auction.

However, the star cricketer has now confirmed that Steven Smith will be registering for IPL 2024 auction, which is indeed good news for his supporters. Steve Smith has played as many as 103 games in the IPL.

Overall, he has scored 2,485 runs at an average of 34.5 including one century and eleven fifties to his name and has maintained a strike rate of 128.1. He registered his personal best score of 101.
