MS Dhoni retired from international cricket in late August 15, 2020 and he confirmed his retirement through an Instagram post. Ever since he called it quits from international cricket, he has been actively plying his trade for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.

However, at the same time, there were reports and widespread speculations of MS Dhoni retiring from the IPL. These reports emerged in 2020 and it is still continuing even in 2023. The 41-year-old earlier dropped a hint that he is in the final stages of his IPL career.

MS Dhoni said about it after the game between KKR and CSK at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The entire crowd erupted when MS Dhoni walked out to bat and even MS Dhoni was pleased with the way the crowd gave a roaring reception to him.

At the post-match presentation, he echoed that the fans at Eden Gardens are trying to him a farewell. Moreover, he even said that he is enjoying the last phase of his career. His statement broke millions of hearts of the cricket fraternity, with many believing that MS Dhoni would quit playing the IPL after the ongoing season.

Meanwhile, New Zealand commentator Danny Morrison posted an Instagram story featuring CSK captain MS Dhoni after retirement query at the toss ahead of the game between Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings.

At the toss, Danny Morrison told MS Dhoni, “Clearly, This wonderful swansong tour, your last. How are you enjoying it?” To which, MS Dhoni, with a smile on his face responded, “You’ve decided it is my last.”
