The January transfer window is only a few days away and several clubs are looking to bring in reinforcements to bolster their squad strength and depth. Like every other transfer window, top players are under the spotlight, linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe. The internet is filled with a plethora of reports and we are bringing you the top-five transfer rumours that have surfaced so far.
Arsenal enter the race for Joao Felix
Manchester United are allegedly chasing Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix in the January transfer window to replace Cristiano Ronaldo. But United are not the only club hunting for a proper centre-forward this winter. Arsenal have entered the race to sign the 23-year-old as they look for a player who can replace the injured Gabriel Jesus.
Manchester United have already lost the chance to sign Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven as the winger joined arch-rivals Liverpool last week. The Red Devils will not want to lose another player to a rival. United are currently relying on Anthony Martial to operate as a sole striker up front and the inconsistency of the French striker has been a matter of concern for the 20-time Premier League champions.
Chelsea and Liverpool compete to secure Enzo Fernandez’s signature
After an impressive display at FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, Enzo Fernandez has caught the eye of several major clubs across Europe. According to reports, the two clubs that have expressed their interest in the Benfica midfielder are Chelsea and Liverpool. Both clubs have already secured one signing for the upcoming window with the former reaching an agreement with David Datro Fofana and the latter signing Gakpo.
Midfielder Jorginho seems to be on his way out of the club as the Londoners want a perfect replacement for the Italian. Meanwhile, the Merseysiders’ midfield is ageing with Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara in their early 30s. Liverpool are also linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.
Manchester City looking to offload Grealish
In a recent interview, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola stated that the club did not have any names on the table for this winter transfer window. However, the club may be looking to offload Jack Grealish. Ever since joining the defending champions from Aston Villa, Grealish’s performances have not been up to par.
According to a few reports, the English winger could be shown the exit door in January itself with City looking to use him in a swap deal to bring in an attacker. AC Milan’s Rafael Leao is allegedly the primary target of the defending champions. Despite City not wanting to change things around this January, this move could happen if circumstances favour both clubs.
