“Every time when Kohli and Rohit opened, their partnership has been….” – Ravi Shastri responds to Ian Bishop’s ‘can Kohli open for India’ query

The complete attention has shifted towards the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. The cash-rich IPL is being held in the two-month-long window and there are plenty of exciting and intriguing things in store for the fans.

What really makes the IPL so special is the fact that the domestic and international players get to share the same dressing rooms. Besides that, the players will get to know about the tricks, trades and tactics, which are really important.

After the conclusion of this competition, there is plenty of interesting international action left in store. The all-important ICC WTC Final, Asia Cup 2023, ICC ODI World Cup 2023 and some bilateral series will be held later this year.

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made its priority very clear and that is they have decided not to let Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma play in the T20I format.

As things stand, the duo are featuring only in the Test and ODI format recently. This is to ensure that the main players are totally in the groove so that they can fine-tune themselves for the ICC WTC Final and ICC ODI World Cup.

While Virat Kohli usually bats at No.3 in the 50-over format, the former West Indies cricketer, Ian Bishop asked Ravi Shastri whether the former Indian skipper could be given an opening slot, particularly considering the mega event scheduled to be held in India in October-November.

Meanwhile, the former India head coach, Ravi Shastri, while being on-air on Jio Cinema, didn’t completely snub the possibility and added that it is tough to have Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as openers.

Shastri reckons that there will probably be another left-hander who might open alongside Rohit Sharma. However, at the same time, Shastri said that when Kohli and Rohit opened together, the partnership has been really huge.
