"Excellent rhythmic bowling action" - Twitter reacts after Shubman Gill bowls for the first time in his Test career

India’s young cricketer Shubman Gill captured the hearts of the Indians with his style of play ever since he made his international debut for the national cricket team.

The right-handed batsman recently became the youngest cricketer to score a double century in One-Day Internationals and he achieved the feat against New Zealand in an ODI match at home.

He continued his rich form in the T20I format and also scored a century against the same opponent in the third T20I at home. With that feat, he became the youngest cricketer to score a century in Tests, ODIs and T20Is.

Shubman Gill bowls for the first time in his Test career

Shubman Gill scored a brilliant century in the first innings against Australia in Ahmedabad. India led by 91 runs in the first innings and they were tasked with the huge responsibility of producing a result in the Ahmedabad Test such that they can qualify for the ICC WTC Final.

However, the New Zealand cricket team did a huge favour by securing a two-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the first Test at home. Sri Lanka’s defeat means that Team India have automatically qualified for the ICC WTC Final irrespective of India’s result in the Ahmedabad Test.

During the Day 5 of the fourth Test match, Rohit Sharma gave the ball to Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara to bowl a few overs, which was one to remember. While Pujara already bowled one over in his Test career, went on to bowl only his second over in the longest format.

He operated as a right-arm leg-break bowler and conceded 1 run. On the other hand, Shubman Gill announced himself as a right-arm off-break bowler as he conceded only one in the only over he bowled.

The fourth Test between India and Australia ended in a draw as India won the Border Gavaskar Trophy series by 2-1. Ravichandran Ashwin (25 wickets) and Ravindra Jadeja (22 wickets) were adjudged the players of the series.
