"Finally Shreyas Iyer is back" - Twitter erupts as Shreyas Iyer joins Team India ahead of the Delhi Test

Indian star cricketer Shreyas Iyer was recently ruled out of the ODI series against New Zealand owing to an injury. The right-handed batsman was expected to be back in action for the first Test against Australia for the Border Gavaskar Trophy series.

After picking up an injury, Shreyas Iyer flew all the way to Bengaluru and hit the National Cricket Academy (NCA). However, as it turned out, Shreyas Iyer didn’t get fitness clearance from the NCA ahead of the first Test in Nagpur.

This is precisely the reason why he was ruled out of the Test opener against Australia. Just a day ago, reports stated that Shreyas Iyer is unlikely to feature for India in the second Test at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Many felt that Suryakumar Yadav will get another chance to prove his worth in the second Test after failing to bring the best out of himself in the first Test match against the Aussies.

Shreyas Iyer joins Team India ahead of the Delhi Test

In what comes as a much-needed boost to Team India, Shreyas Iyer has joined the team ahead of the Delhi Test. The second Test between India and Australia will kick off on February 17 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Shreyas Iyer plays exceptionally well against spin and his presence will add a great deal of dimension to the team’s batting attack in the second Test if he is back in the playing XI.

There is still no clarity on whether or not he would be in the starting XI for the second Test match. Earlier, Team India drew first blood in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series by beating Pat Cummins and Co by an innings and 132 runs.

Ravindra Jadeja was adjudged the player of the match for his terrific all-round performance in the Nagpur Test. He scored 70 runs in the first innings and ended up with seven wickets in the game.
