Fiorentina vs Hellas Verona Team News:
Fiorentina:
Fiorentina will be forced to make some changes from the lineup that held Juventus scoreless for 90 minutes in midweek due to a knee sprain suffered by Alvaro Odriozola, who will be replaced by unfortunate own-goal scorer Lorenzo Venuti, while Giacomo Bonaventura will miss the match against Verona due to suspension. In place of the experienced midfielder who was sent off against Sassuolo at the weekend, either Youssef Maleh or Alfred Duncan will most likely be deployed in the hosts’ central midfield trio, while defensive mainstay Nikola Milenkovic returns to Serie A action after serving a one-match suspension last weekend.
With Krzysztof Piatek and Arthur Cabral battling it out in the attacking third of a 4-3-3 formation, Vincenzo Italiano’s 4-3-3 formation will once again have a focal point at the head of an attacking trio.
Hellas Verona:
Nicolo Casale and Koray Gunter are set to return to the starting lineup for Verona, while midfielder Miguel Veloso will be available once again. Pawel Dawidowicz and Ivor Pandur have both been ruled out with injuries sustained against Venezia, but Antonin Barak, a key offensive midfielder, is expected to be back in action before the international break.
Fiorentina’s main striker Giovanni Simeone, who has scored 20 goals in 74 Serie A appearances for the club, could benefit from the presence of the Czech international upfront. Simeone has also scored 15 league goals this season, which is the most by any Verona player in the club’s history. Only one other player in the club’s history has scored more in a single season: World Cup champion Luca Toni (20 in 2013-14 and 22 in 2014-15).

The One-Liner Explainer:
It is expected that the prizes will be shared once again on Sunday after the teams played to a 1-1 draw in the reverse game. Both teams have comparable strengths and weaknesses, making for an interesting match-up. Fiorentina has been less effective in and around the penalty box since the departure of Vlahovic, but they now have enough skilled attackers in their ranks to counter attack-minded opponents in the coming weeks.
