The first T20I between India and Sri Lanka certainly lived up to the expectations of the fans at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The game did stretch to the climax which kept the fans on the edge of their seats.

Shubman Gill and Shivam Mavi made their T20I debut against Sri Lanka. While Gill failed miserably at the office by scoring just seven runs, Shivam Mavi had a fantastic debut as he accounted for four dismissals.

Shivam Mavi got rid of Pathum Nissanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana. On the other side of the coin, Umran Malik and Harshal Patel accounted for two dismissals apiece.

Meanwhile, Team India restricted the visitors to 160/8 in 20 overs and pulled off the ropes from the jaws of the defeat. The Men in Blue won the game by two runs and took the first lead in the three-match T20I series.

Hardik Pandya and Co will be looking forward to securing another win in the next game in order to win the series. After India scripted a thriller win over Sri Lanka, skipper Hardik Pandya delivered a promising statement.

After the game, he said he literally wants to put this team in difficult situations in bilateral series such that it would surely help them in big games. It is important for the Indians to pick up the lessons, especially in clutch moments of the game. If they figure out some strategy, then they would be on top of their game when locking horns with big oppositions.
