“He’s given me the biggest headache as England coach when we played against India”, Paul Collingwood talks about why Hardik Pandya is tough to deal with

Hardik Pandya, captain of the Gujarat Titans, has received high appreciation from former England all-rounder and 2010 T20 World Cup-winning captain Paul Collingwood. So far in IPL 2023, the Titans have played in five matches, winning three and losing twice.

Hardik Pandya impressively led his team to victory as Gujarat won the first IPL championship in 2022. Despite having a great season last time around, the captain has not yet come through with the bat for his team this time around. However, Paul Collingwood, a former England captain, has lauded the Gujarat-born cricketer for his leadership qualities and called him a “game-changer.”

Hardik has had a series of poor scores in his four appearances in the current round, accumulating 49 runs thus far. He struggled early on in the tournament, scoring 8, 5, and 8 runs, before showing great improvement against Rajasthan Royals with a total of 28. However, he came up with a half-century against the Lucknow Super Giants.

So far in the season, Hardik Pandya and company have won their first two matches. The Titans had been in third position in the IPL standings with eight points until suffering 2 defeats in their past three games.

The reigning champions were defeated by the IPL 2022 runner-up Rajasthan Royals by three wickets in their most recent match. Hardik Pandya and the Gujarat Titans need to step it up if they want to go back to winning ways and move up the standings as the schedule becomes busier.

“Hardik Pandya is a rockstar and one of the most entertaining players. He leads from the front. He’s given me the biggest headache as England coach when we played against India. He’s someone who can change the complexion of the game with his performance and that’s what makes him a threat to any opposition,” said Collingwood on Star Sports.
