When Lucknow Super Giants posted the second-highest total in the history of the IPL, the game was already close to over. However, Punjab Kings ensured to put up a great fight in the run-chase. It was not like it was impossible to chase down the total.

However, they didn’t take the chances properly when it mattered the most and ended up fighting a losing battle. Punjab Kings ensured to tick the flow of runs throughout the end. As it turned out, they lost the game by 56 runs at home.

Earlier in the game, Punjab Kings won the toss and invited KL Rahul and Co to bat. Lucknow Super Giants that had enough players at their disposal let their bat do the talking from the get-go and continued to inflict damage on the opposition till the finishing stages of the game.

LSG beat PBKS to move into second place in points table

Lucknow Super Giants benefitted from the services of Kyle Mayers (54), Marcus Stoinis (72), Ayush Badani (43) and Nicholas Pooran (45). In the end, they were able to post a humongous total of 257/5 in their allotted quota of 20 overs.

In response, Punjab Kings were able to garner 201 runs at the expense of all the wickets in 19.5 overs. The game witnessed a record 458 runs from both teams. Lucknow Super Giants’ bowlers ensured to keep the PBKS batters silent whenever required during the game.

In the end, they emerged as the victorious side. Atharva Taide was the pick of the batters for Punjab Kings. He scored 66 off 36 balls including eight fours and two sixes. On the contrary, Yash Thakur registered 4/37 in 3.5 overs for LSG.
