IPL 2023 Schedule: Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Giants to kickstart proceedings

IPL 2023 schedule: In a humdinger reveal, IPL announced the schedule for the upcoming season of the cash-rich cricket fest, as Chennai Super Kings will be taking the yard for the curtain-raiser against Gujarat Titans to kickstart the banger.

The tournament opener will be followed by two double-headers that will witness all the ten teams in action in the first three days of the tournament. Five days after the inaugural edition of the Women’s IPL comes to a close, the men’s blockbuster will unravel itself in its most blazing avatar on the 31st of April at Ahmedabad.

Following the season opener, the two double headers would witness Punjab squaring off with Kolkata for the afternoon game on Saturday followed by Lucknow taking on Delhi Capitals for the evening fixture. Sunday will also see two blockbusters lining up with Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals kickstarting the day ensued by Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians hitting yard later in the day.

The group stages will comprise 70 games that will be played between March 31st to May 21st. The ten venues that have so far been picked include Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Mohali – some matches will be played in Guwahati (Royals’ second home), and Dharamsala (Kings’ second home). Both the curtain-raiser and the grand finale will be played in Ahmedabad with the summit clash being slated to happen on May 28th.

The ten teams have been divided into two groups and the ones aligned in the same group will only be playing each other once wherein the teams from the other groups will be battling twice amongst themselves, in somewhat of an exact replica from the precursor edition’s format.

Post 2019, this is the first time that IPL will be spread in more than a handful of states in India that will witness the aforementioned 10 venues coming into action to register the latest edition of the cricketing showstopper.
