"It is important for the players to maintain high fitness standards" - Twitter reacts as Yo-Yo Test will be part of the selection criteria of the Indian team

The top brass of the BCCI has been working really hard in order to come up with the balanced 15-member squad leading into the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. This is precisely the reason why they have shortlisted as many as 20 members for the marquee event.

For the first time in history, the ICC ODI World Cup will be held entirely in India and it remains to be seen how the Indian players approach the main event this time around. They have suffered enough after getting eliminated from the ICC events in a disappointing manner.

The Men in Blue relished the taste of ICC title glory back in 2013 when they beat England in the finals to win the Champions Trophy. Since then, there was something really wrong with the plan and execution of the Indian cricket team management.

As a result, they failed to make a bid for another ICC title. During the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, India finished the group stage points table with eight points, which is the most by any team in the competition but lost to England in the semi-final.

Meanwhile, in the latest development, the BCCI is making sure that the fitness test will be a part of the selection criteria of the Indian cricket team. Earlier, the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja were ruled out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia owing to injuries.

In order to prevent key players from getting injured, the BCCI stated that the Yo-Yo test and Dexa test will now be a part of the selection criteria of the Indian cricket team. For the unversed, the Dexa test is nothing but a bone density test to determine how strong the bones are.
