On Sunday, in an IPL 2023 encounter between the Rajasthan Royals and the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Yuzvendra Chahal became the first Indian to take up 300 T20 wickets by castling Harry Brook’s stumps.

The legspinner for the Rajasthan Royals has taken 27 wickets at an economy rate of 7.75 in the 2022 IPL, making him the tournament’s leading wicket-taker. Moreover, he had scored the only hat trick of the year.

Throughout the history of the Indian Premier League, Chahal has taken 166 wickets, more than any other Indian player. He surpassed Amit Mishra.

SunRisers Hyderabad are in trouble chasing 204 runs against Rajasthan Royals, as Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal have taken two wickets each, while Jason Holder and R Ashwin have taken one wicket apiece. RR reached 203 for 5 with the stellar batting performances of Sanju Samson (55 off 32), Jos Buttler (54 off 22), and Yashasvi Jasiwal (54 off 37). With Buttler in top form, RR got off to a roaring start. After Buttler’s dismissal, Jasiwal kept the team afloat until Samson joined the fray. T Natarajan and Fazalhaq Farooqi, who each took two wickets, stood out as the most effective bowlers. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, captain of SRH, won the toss and elected to bowl.
