“It’s not about the runs but…” – Kumar Sangakkara says Sanju Samson always plays for the team

As a result, playing for the team is all the matters the most. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson came under fire for his strike rate and form in the last few games. While the critics targeted Sanju Samson, Kumar Sangakkara came to defend him in the first place.

The former Sri Lankan captain reflected on the players’ performances in the dressing room after the Royals completed a double over CSK in the ongoing IPL season. During the short speech, Kumar Sangakkara heaped praise on Samson for playing for the team.

He further added that it is not about the runs, but it’s about how Sanju Samson scores those runs. The head coach of Rajasthan Royals praised Sanju Samson’s intent. Sanju Samson scored 17 off 17 balls including 1 four before he was dismissed by Tushar Deshpande.

Talking about the game, Rajasthan Royals posted 202/5 in their quota of 20 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal top-scored with 77 runs whereas Jurel scored 34 runs. In response, CSK ended up scoring 170/6 in 20 overs.

With this win, Rajasthan Royals completed a double over Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023. This is also their sixth win over CSK in the last seven meetings. Rajasthan Royals’ win helped them go on top of the IPL 2023 points table. The Royals will take on Mumbai Indians on April 30, Sunday.
