“Just a Clown Cricket Association”, Twitter reacts as PCB made Shan Masood as Vice Captain of ODI but he is not part of playing 11

Shan Masood

The Pakistan national cricket team has made it a habit nowadays of making themselves a laughing stock on and off the pitch. From hilarious actions on the field to catastrophic decisions at the Board level, we have seen it all. Today, they gave yet another major example of the same when Pakistan announced their playing XI for the first ODI against New Zealand which is being played currently at the National Stadium Karachi.

Fans were baffled to see that Shan Masood was not a part of Pakistan’s playing XI in the first ODI against New Zealand. This is confusing because they just made the left-handed batsman the Vice captain of Pakistan’s ODI team and now they have excluded him from the playing XI. This, obviously, caught the attention of Indian fans as well and they are now bantering the Pakistan cricket team for the same.

“Lol then whats the point of making him vice captain when he can’t make the 11. By the way who is vice captain for today’s match then ?”: tweeted one particular fan. As it happens to be, Pakistan are playing without a Vice Captain today according to the team sheet and it is indeed a very rare happenstance.

Shan Masood plays in PSL team Multan Sultans and has made a name for himself as a very responsible batsman in the Pakistan Cricket circle. The reason for his absence from the playing XI today is still a mystery.

Pakistan and New Zealand are currently playing a three match ODI series on Pakistan’s home turf and this one is the first of the three. They previously took on each other in a two match test series. Both those matches ended in a draw and thus Pakistan and New Zealand had to share the trophy. It anyways did not matter much for the hosts as they are practically out of the World Test Championship by now.
