When Milan Skriniar, a defender for Inter Milan, becomes a free agent in the summer of 2023, Liverpool will be prepared to make an offer
According to Fichajes, a Spanish media site, Liverpool is looking into signing Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar. The January shopping for the Reds has begun with an agreement on PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo.
Given that neither Inter nor Skriniar has been able to come to terms on a new deal, the Italian club may be obliged to sell the player in January.
The 27-year-old has been a mainstay for the Nerazzurri in all competitions, but his availability has caught the attention of teams from all around the world.
He still wants him to continue at San Siro beyond this season, but time is running out before he can sign a pre-contract with any international team and consider offers from other clubs.
Skriniar is the modern defender’s dream: he has excellent passing range and doesn’t seem out of place when he has the ball. Together with Virgil van Dijk, he poses a significant danger to the attacking teams in the Premier League with his high interception and clearing rates in every game.
Graeme Bailey, a journalist, provided more context for what was going on.
“Paris Saint-Germain were always interested, and they still are, but now all the top Premier League clubs are too. At 27, it’s not often that you get the chance to sign one of the best defenders in the world.
So even a team like Manchester City, which doesn’t need a new centre-back right away, is willing to make an offer to him. But so too are Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Newcastle. If he leaves, the battle for Skriniar will be very interesting.”
As of right now, it seems unlikely that the Reds will be able to sign any new players in the next 30 days. They may take a chance and significantly reduce their summer transfer budget if the player is still available for a low enough price.
