The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the 15-man squad for the WTC final against the Australian cricket team very recently. The fans of the Indian cricket fraternity were absolutely taken aback by Ajinkya Rahane’s selection for the WTC Final.

Ajinkya Rahane has been in pretty good touch with the bat since January 2022 as he has been scoring crucial runs for the Mumbai cricket team in the Ranji Trophy. Besides that, he has been making his presence count in almost every game for CSK in IPL 2023.

He surprised the fans of the cricket fraternity by letting his strike rate do the talking. Rahane has made a telling impact in CSK’s batting unit this season, which is a major boost to CSK and the fans.

Needless to say, not many are aware of the fact that it was MS Dhoni’s inputs that played a crucial role in Ajinkya Rahane’s selection for the World Test Championship Final against Australia.

As reported by TOI, MS Dhoni’s inputs were taken by the Indian team management and Indian selection committee before considering Ajinkya Rahane for the WTC Final. Rahane has enough experience under his belt with regards to Test cricket.

Having played 82 Tests for the Indian cricket team, Ajinkya Rahane scored 4931 runs at an average of 38.5. It is worth mentioning that he has smashed 12 centuries and 25 half-centuries to his name.

He registered his best score of 188 runs in the longest format of the game. Meanwhile, the finals of the ICC World Test Championship between India and Australia will kick off at The Oval from June 7 to June 11, with June 12 set as the reserve day. India played in the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship final against New Zealand but lost the encounter.
