Manchester United and Chelsea lock horns to sign Marco Asensio from Real Madrid

Manchester United and Chelsea are expected to engage in a fierce competition for the services of Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio

Because of his current contract, which will not be renewed, Marco Asensio is reportedly facing an uncertain future at Real Madrid this summer. They are ready to give him a new deal but unwilling to meet his desired pay expectations.

Asensio, valued at about €40 million by the club he now plays for, may be allowed to leave the club as a result of this development. Before the start of the new season, several teams, including Chelsea and Manchester United, are showing interest in securing the services of the striker, so there is no lack of potential suitors for him.

The transfer market has gotten off to a pretty sluggish start for Manchester United, who have been unable to secure the services of even a single great player. They are currently in negotiations with Barcelona over the transfer of Frenkie de Jong, but no deal has been reached as of yet. Despite this, Manchester United are keeping an eye on Asensio since they are aware that the Spaniard has a plethora of experience and may be an intriguing addition to their roster.

Asensio is a multi-talented winger who is also capable of performing the duties of a number 10, therefore he has the potential to be an excellent replacement for Jesse Lingard. After seeing out the last year of his contract at Old Trafford, the Englishman is now free to sign with any club he chooses this summer. There is a possibility that Jesse Lingard may return to West Ham United, whilst Juan Mata and Paul Pogba have both already moved on from Manchester United this summer.

Asensio’s possible inclusion at Manchester United might breathe new life into the creative unit, therefore relieving some of the pressure that has been placed on Bruno Fernandes. When it comes to securing the services of the great player from Real Madrid, Manchester United may find themselves up against tough opposition from Chelsea.

As speculation continues to swirl around the future of Hakim Ziyech, who is reportedly a target for AC Milan as well as other top clubs, Chelsea is anticipated to bring in a plethora of offensive players in the summer as part of Thomas Tuchel’s comprehensive renovation in the final third of the field.

Given Saul Niguez’s problems in the Premier League during the last campaign, Tuchel may want to have a rethink before making an effort to acquire the Real Madrid attacker, even though Asensio might prove to be an intriguing addition to the team.

Given that he is now in the last year of his contract, it won’t come as much of a surprise if Real Madrid lowers the price tag that they have set for the Spanish international player in the weeks to come. It will be intriguing to watch where the former RCD Mallorca standout transfers this summer, especially considering that AC Milan is also competing for the rights to acquire Asensio.
