Indian captain Rohit Sharma hogged the limelight with his spectacular batting performance in the first innings of the first Test match against the Australian cricket team in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series.

Rohit Sharma scored an incredible century on a pitch where most other Indian batters struggled to dictate the terms. The 35-year-old stalwart scored a sensational 120 including 15 boundaries and 2 sixes to his name at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur.

India won the first Test by an innings and 132 runs and gained a great deal of confidence from the win. They carried on with the same template and won the second Test by six wickets at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. India went on to win the BGT series by 2-1 and also qualified for the WTC Final.

Rohit Sharma finished the Border Gavaskar Trophy series as the fifth-leading run-scorer. He aggregated 242 runs at an average of 40.33 including 26 boundaries and 5 hits over the fence.

Meanwhile, the Indian captain hogged the limelight after he entered the Top 10 in the ICC Test batsmen ranking. The veteran Indian cricketer gained some good rating points after his performances in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series.

As a result, he made it to the Top 10 in the latest ranking. As of now, he is ranked 10th in the ICC Test batters ranking. Rohit Sharma’s Test career didn’t take off on a perfect note as he had to wait for his opportunity.

Even though he got chances, he didn’t stamp his authority the way he did in ODIs and T20Is. However, as the years progressed, he was promoted to the opening slot and there was no turning back since then.

Rohit Sharma scored 3320 runs at an average of 46.8 including nine centuries and 14 half-centuries to his name. The Indian captain scored one double-century against South Africa and registered his personal best score of 212.
