"Rishabh Pant made it possible" - Twitter reacts as Players can take reviews for Wides and no-balls in IPL

Cricket is reaching new heights every day thanks to technological advancements. Reviewing wides and no-balls will be allowed in the 2023 IPL season, which is a positive development that mirrors the current Women’s Premier League. It will be fascinating to see the responsibilities of the umpires, whose importance will inevitably be reduced as a result of this system, but it will also guarantee more precise choices.

“A player may request a review of any decision taken by the on-field umpires concerning whether or not a batter is dismissed, with the exception of ‘Timed Out’ (Player Review),” the WPL playing conditions said.

“A player may also be allowed to review any decision taken by on-field umpires concerning wide or no-ball,” it added.

In a game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals batter Jemimah Rodrigues opted for a no-ball review. The incident occurred in the last over of the first innings, when Rodrigues was batting against Megan Schutt of RCB and sought the DRS after Schutt produced a full toss on the third ball and the batsman hit a boundary at backward square leg. She mistook it for being over her waist and used the Women’s Premier League’s version of the special DRS established by BCCI.

How this new regulation helps in the next few days should be fascinating to see.
