Star Sports, the official television broadcaster of the Indian Premier League 2023, revealed on Tuesday that some of the most distinguished players in cricket history would serve as commentators for the tournament.
Fans of the sport may listen in to hear the thoughts of Paul Collingwood and Aaron Finch, two leaders who have won the Twenty20 World Cup. Finch has played for nine different IPL teams.
Kevin Pietersen, a star in both the IPL and England, will be joining them. His vast cricket expertise and gregarious demeanour have made him a fan favourite.
Star Sports’ coverage of the 2023 Indian Premier League will include fan favourite Danny Morrison. Legendary all-rounder and former Indian Premier League coach Jacques Kallis join the Star Sports commentary team.
CSK veteran Matthew Hayden and former Australia batsman David Hussey will join Kallis and Pietersen. Hussey formerly coached KKR. As the IPL expands to a record 12 cities, former Purple Cap winner Imran Tahir will provide insight into spin bowling, which is likely to play a pivotal role.
Tom Moody, Daniel Vettori, and Simon Katich, all of whom are ex-IPL coaches, will break down the game from the inside out, discussing strategies and individual plays.
Legendary Indian openers Sunil Gavaskar and Virender Sehwag, who have very different batting and commentating styles, will also be on the panel. Mithali Raj, one of the best women cricketers of all time, will provide diversity and stature to the broadcast team.
Harbhajan Singh, winner of four IPL titles and two World Cups, will have Mohammad Kaif as a teammate. Irfan Pathan, a former India all-rounder and the champion of the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007, is also a part of this formidable lineup.
Yusuf Pathan, Irfan’s brother and a two-time World Champion and one of the most influential players in IPL history, will be making his commentary debut on Star Sports’ panel.
Murali Vijay, a former India opener and three-time Indian Premier League winner, will make his debut in sports broadcasting with Laxmipathy Balaji, who won three IPL championships as a player and as a part of the CSK coaching staff.
Subramaniam Badrinath, who won two championships with CSK, is also on the impressive list of title winners. S. Sreesanth has joined the ranks of cricket’s finest commentators and will bring his boundless enthusiasm to India’s most popular cricket program, Cricket Live.
Sandeep Patil and Kris Srikkanth, both World Cup champions from 1983, join Sunil Gavaskar on Star Sports’ panel to provide an interesting cross-generational viewpoint.

With Venugopal Rao, T. Suman, and Ashish Reddy, all previous IPL winners (Rao with Deccan Chargers and Suman with Sunrisers Hyderabad), the Telugu stream provides an unparalleled watching experience.
The addition of MSK Prasad, a former chief selector for the Indian cricket team, would undoubtedly improve the Telugu broadcast. In capturing and honouring the thrill of India’s largest Cricket event, Kalyan Krishna joins the ranks of great former Cricket players.
Former Indian cricketer Vijay Bharadwaj, Srinivasa Murthy (Jaani), former Karnataka coach GK Anil Kumar, former RCB trio Balachandra Akhil, Bharat Chipli, and Pavan Deshpande, and Karnataka legend Gundappa Vishwanath make up the Kannada commentary panel.
