Kane Williamson is likely to be the mentor of New Zealand for the World Cup

In the latest update, it has been learnt that Kane Williamson is likely to ply his trade as the mentor of New Zealand cricket team for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, slated to be held in India in October-November window.

If reports doing the rounds are to be believed, Kane Williamson might turn up as the mentor of New Zealand for the ODI World Cup if he is not fit to play in the main event. As per a report by ESPNCricinfo, New Zealand head coach Gary Stead clarified that it is too early to pass on a judgement on Kane Williamson’s availability.

As things stand, the former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson is currently undergoing rehabilitation and his availability for the World Cup will entirely depend on his recovery process.

Meanwhile, the head coach himself told that if Kane Williamson is not playing, then he would bring him to India as a mentor. Kane Williamson’s presence could be a huge advantage for New Zealand’s chances going forward into the event. In 161 ODIs, he scored 6554 runs at an average of 47.8 including 13 centuries and 42 fifties.
