Apart from all the medals and trophies, teams get prize money for participating and winning the tournament. The amount of prize money given is huge and it helps the administrations to improve the team.

A Total prize money of $5.6 million will be given out to the 16 teams participating in the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup. The winner of the tournament will be awarded a cheque of $1.6 million worth of prize money. Runner ups will be given a cheque of $800,000 as prize money and two losing semi-finalists will get $400,000 each.

Every win in the Super 12s stage of the tournament will give an amount of $40,000 to the teams in prize money. The teams that go out at this stage of the tournament will get $70,000 each. Wins in round one of the tournament will fetch $40,000 apiece, and the four teams that don’t make it to the Super 12s will get $40,000 each.

2007 ICC T20 World Cup

The 2007 ICC T20 World Cup was the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup. The cup was hosted by South Africa. India was the champion of the first edition of the T20 World Cup and Pakistan were the Runner Ups. India defeated Pakistan by 5 runs.

2009 ICC T20 World Cup

The second edition of the T20 World Cup took place in 2009. The tournament was hosted by England in June 2009. The final took place at Lord’s on Sunday 21 June with Pakistan beating Sri Lanka by eight wickets.

2010 ICC T20 World Cup

The 2010 ICC World Twenty20 was the third ICC World Twenty20 competition which was held between 30 April and 16 May 2010. The tournament was hosted by West Indies. It was won by England, who defeated Australia in the final by 7 wickets.

2012 ICC T20 World Cup

The 2012 ICC T20 World Cup was the fourth ICC World Twenty20 competition which took place from 18 September 2012 to 7 October 2012. The tournament was hosted by Sri Lanka and won by West Indies. They defeated the Host country, Sri Lanka, by 36 runs.

2014 ICC T20 World Cup

The 2014 ICC World Twenty20 was the fifth ICC World Twenty20 competition, an international Twenty20 cricket tournament, that took place from 16 March to 6 April 2014. The tournament was hosted by Bangladesh. Sri Lanka won the tournament, defeating India by 6 Wickets.

2016 ICC T20 World Cup

The 2016 ICC World Twenty20 was the sixth edition of the ICC World Twenty20 that took place from 8 March to 3 April 2016. The Tournament was hosted by India and was won by West Indies who defeated England by 4 Wickets.
