New Zealand pull off a heist on the final ball of the first Test against Sri Lanka

New Zealand cricket team required seven runs to win off the last over and it was when the fans witnessed one of the iconic moments in the history of Test cricket. The hosts collected two runs in the first two balls before Matt Henry was run out in the third delivery, which added further pressure.

New Zealand somehow breathed a sigh of relief after Kane Williamson smashed a boundary off Asitha Fernando’s delivery as 1 run was required off the last two balls. Asitha Fernando bowled a dot ball in the fifth delivery, in what was a great comeback by the pacer.

When the hosts required 1 off the last ball, Kane Williamson didn’t really time the ball well. However, he ensured to take a single by putting in a full-blooded dive to complete the run.

Had it not been for that dive, New Zealand wouldn’t have won the game. Kane Williamson scored a match-winning 121 with the help of 11 fours and a six as New Zealand won the thriller by 2 wickets.
