Chennai Super Kings might have kick-started their IPL 2023 campaign with a defeat over Gujarat Titans but they ensured to let their performance do the talking in the second game against Lucknow Super Giants at Chepauk.

CSK returned to their fortress after a long gap of 1427 days. The yellow army batted extremely well against Lucknow Super Giants as they went on to post their highest-ever score powerplay score of 79 runs.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway constructed a superb 110-run partnership for the opening wicket before Gaikwad departed for 57 off 31 balls including 3 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 183.87. Conway chipped in with 47 off 29 balls including 5 fours and 2 sixes.

CSK beat LSG by 12 runs at Chepauk

Ravi Bishnoi was the pick of the bowlers for Lucknow Super Giants as he accounted for three dismissals in his quota of four overs. Chennai Super Kings successfully restricted Lucknow Super Giants to 205/7 in 20 overs.

They won the game by 12 runs. Kyle Mayers was the one who was causing all sorts of trouble to CSK bowlers as he chipped in with 53 off 22 balls where he struck as many as eight boundaries and two hits over the fence.

Nicholas Pooran also looked good for his 32 off 18 balls including 2 fours and 3 sixes. On the other hand, Moeen Ali was the pick of the bowlers for CSK as he brought the best out of himself by taking four wickets in his quota of 4 overs. Moeen Ali registered his best bowling figures of 4/26 in the IPL.
