“The left-handed opener the Indian team needs”, Twitter errupts as Yashasvi Jaiswal scores 60 runs off 31 balls against Delhi Capitals

"The left-handed opener the Indian team needs", Twitter errupts as Yashasvi Jaiswal scores 60 runs off 31 balls against Delhi Capitals

Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal dominated Delhi Capitals’ Khaleel Ahmed in the opening over, setting the tone for a dominant performance by the Rajasthan Royals. In the most costly opening over in IPL 2023, Jaiswal hit the Delhi Capitals pacer for five boundaries.

Delhi captain David Warner asked Rajasthan to bat first on a batting-friendly surface in Guwahati after the team’s last trip ended in a dismal defeat to the Punjab Kings. The choice to bowl left-arm bowler Khaleel Ahmed backfired for the seasoned Australian opener, who gave up 20 runs in the first over.

In the match against Punjab, Jaiswal hit a six off the first ball, while in the match against Delhi, he hit Khaleel for a boundary. He hit the next two balls out of the park for fours, giving him a perfect game. Two more boundaries were added to the southpaw’s total against the pacer in the over.

Jos Buttler, his senior partner, watched the first over unfold from the other end and then joined the fun by hitting Anrich Nortje for a hat trick of fours. After milking 68 runs in the powerplay, the dynamic combination added 50 runs in only four overs, which threatens to catapult their team to a big first innings total. When faced with a challenging opportunity to eliminate Rajasthan’s talisman, Delhi’s Nortje flubbed it. The English opener posed a threat to Delhi’s bowling attack.

Jaiswal scored 60 runs from 31 balls, he has 2 fifties from just 3 innings in IPL 2023.
