On Wednesday, Mumbai Indians (MI) announced that Riley Meredith will replace Jhye Richardson, their injured fast bowler. Due to a hamstring injury, Richardson won’t be able to play in the next 16th season of the TATA Indian Premier League. (IPL). Australian fast bowler Riley Meredith, who replaced him, has appeared in five Twenty20 Internationals, racking up eight wickets (including a three-wicket haul) in that time. In past IPL seasons, he has played for both the Punjab Kings and the Mumbai Indians. INR 1.5 Crore will get him into MI.

Richardson was scheduled to join the defending IPL champion Mumbai Indians on March 31. He was ruled out of the ODI series against India.

Ryle Meredith replaces Jhye Richardson

After having to leave the Big Bash League due to an injury, 26-year-old Richardson aggravated it when playing club cricket. Hence, he could not make it for the IPL and the ODI series against India.

After playing for Punjab Kings in the IPL in 2022, Richardson was scheduled to play for the Mumbai Indians the following year. The Australian fast bowler has to sit out the 2019 ODI World Cup and the Ashes because of shoulder surgery.

After recovering from shoulder surgery in December 2021, Richardson earned his first five-wicket haul in a Test during a match against England. A persistent heel injury, though, forced him to miss the next game, and he hasn’t played Test cricket since. During Australia’s 2022 trip to Sri Lanka, the bowler participated in both the T20I and ODI series.
