“They will miss Jasprit Bumrah” – Sunil Gavaskar feels that Mumbai Indians will miss the services of Jasprit Bumrah in IPL 2023

"They will miss Jasprit Bumrah" - Sunil Gavaskar feels that Mumbai Indians will miss the services of Jasprit Bumrah in IPL 2023

Sunil Gavaskar, a former captain of the Indian cricket team, has said that the Mumbai Indians would miss Jasprit Bumrah’s contributions greatly next season. Five-time winners Mumbai Indians will have to play the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) without Bumrah, who has been sidelined for the year with a back injury. The tournament kicks off on March 31. Since last year’s September, he has not played in any international cricket tournaments. This includes the Asia Cup and the ICC T20 World Cup.

Bumrah is useful to both the Indian national team and the Mumbai Indians. He has taken 145 wickets in 120 appearances and is MI’s second-highest wicket-taker. The 29-year-old has risen up the rankings, passing spin veteran Harbhajan Singh and is second only to Lasith Malinga.

Notwithstanding his departure, Gavaskar believes that the Rohit Sharma-led side has the quality to win a record sixth championship. After a lackluster showing the year before, he saw this as an opportunity to redeem themselves.

What did Sunil Gavaskar say about Mumbai Indians missing Jasprit Bumrah?

“They have to forget what happened last season and got to believe that they have the team to do it again. They will miss Jasprit Bumrah. But they have got a team that can win the championship once again. I see them in the top three definitely, because they have a point to prove after last year’s performance,” said Gavaskar while speaking to Star Sports about the chances of Rohit and Co. winning IPL 2023.

Meanwhile, on March 31, reigning champions Gujarat Titans (GT) will face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Ahmedabad’s historic Narendra Modi Stadium to kick off the next Indian Premier League 2023. MI, who had a dismal season in 2022, will open their season on April 2 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in an attempt to win a record-setting sixth championship.
