Indian captain Rohit Sharma broke the silence on Virat Kohli’s health while speaking to the reporters during the post-match press conference after the Ahmedabad Test between India and Australia ended in a draw.

Team India won the Border Gavaskar Trophy series by 2-1 and also retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy for a record fourth straight time. Rohit Sharma and Co also qualified for the ICC World Test Championship final.

They will play against Australia in the WTC Final on June 7 at The Kennington Oval. Virat Kohli was adjudged the man of the match for his incredible innings against Australia in the first innings at Narendra Modi Stadium.

Virat Kohli ended his three-year Test century drought by scoring his 28th Test century. He was en route to scoring a double century but was dismissed by Todd Murphy for 186 (15 boundaries).

Rohit Sharma breaks silence on Virat Kohli’s health

There was a bit of concern surrounding Virat Kohli’s health after his wife Anushka Sharma echoed that Virat Kohli was actually batting through sickness on Day 4 of the Ahmedabad Test match.

It was soon after Virat Kohli was dismissed for 186, his wife Anushka Sharma took to her Instagram handle and then posted a story along with the caption, “playing through sickness with his composure”. She added that Virat Kohli is inspiring her always.

After the game, a question about Virat Kohli’s health was asked to Rohit Sharma. However, the Indian captain said he doesn’t think Virat Kohli was sick at all in the first place. Rohit did admit that Virat Kohli was coughing a bit.

Even Axar Patel said he doesn’t really know Virat Kohli was sick. He added that the way Virat Kohli was running between the wickets, it didn’t look like he was sick after all.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli will be next seen in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, with the ODI opener slated to be played on March 17 (Friday) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
