“Turns up in the big moments” – Twitter reacts as Sam Curran almost wins it for Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings locked horns with Gujarat Titans in the 18th match of the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League. The game took place at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali.

Gujarat Titans’ captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings posted a modest total of 153/8 in their designated quota of 20 overs. Matthew Short top-scored with 36 off 24 balls.

On the other hand, Sam Curran scored 22 off 22 balls including a four and a six. Shahrukh Khan provided the much-needed spark in the end and helped the team post a decent total on the board. He scored 22 off 9 balls including 1 four and 2 hits over the fence.

Sam Curran almost wins it for Punjab Kings

In response to Punjab Kings’ target, Gujarat Titans got off to a scintillating start, courtesy of Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill. The duo added 48 runs for the opening wicket before Kagiso Rabada dismissed Saha for 31 off 19 to take his 100th wicket in the IPL.

Shubman Gill was the pick of the batters for Gujarat Titans in the run-chase. He chipped in with 67 off 49 balls including seven fours and a six. Just as when Gujarat Titans were heading towards an easy win, Sam Curran made things a bit tougher for the defending champions.

Hardik Pandya and Co felt immense pressure right at the death. Sam Curran dismissed Shubman Gill by making a mess of his stumps. When Gujarat Titans required four runs off 2 balls, Rahul Tewatia smashed a boundary to guide the team to a sensational win. Sam Curran registered 1/25 in 3.5 overs.
