Virat Kohli fined 10% of match fee by BCCI for violating the IPL code of conduct

The cash-rich Indian Premier League has a Code of Conduct that all cricketers, team officials, and support staff are supposed to abide by the rules during the course of the tournament.

However, one must note that breaching the IPL code of conduct can lead to various penalties such as fines, suspension or even expulsion from the competition.

Instances of several players being penalized for violating the IPL code of conduct are many. For the record, showing dissent or directing any verbal abuse towards the umpire or opposition players is against the spirit of the game.

In this case, one shall be penalized. In another instance, a player shall be penalized for inappropriate behaviour on or off the field. If a player shows dissent or frustration with the umpire’s decision, he gets penalized as well.

A player is penalized if he is using inappropriate language or gestures on the field. Meanwhile, former RCB captain, Virat Kohli made the headlines after he was fined 10% of his match fee by the BCCI for breaching the IPL code of conduct.

During the game between RCB and CSK, Virat Kohli excessively celebrated Shivam Dube’s dismissal and the video clip of the same has gone viral on the internet as well. The match referee who noticed this decided to take action against the former RCB captain.

Virat Kohli also confessed to the offence as well. CSK’s left-handed batsman, Shivam Dube struck the balls with brute force and launched a couple of long maximums that hit the roof of the stadium.

Overall, he smashed 52 off 27 balls where he pace his innings with the help of 2 fours and 5 sixes before he fell prey to Wayne Parnell’s delivery. Talking about the result of the game, CSK beat RCB by 8 runs to clinch the Southern Derby.
