Virat Kohli is a health and fitness nut, and when it comes to his nutrition, the ex-captain of the Indian cricket team is quite particular. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy, though, seemed to have put Kohli the “foodie” back in the spotlight. Images of Kohli celebrating the arrival of ‘Chhole Kulche’ in the Delhi dressing room during the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium went viral. That sent social media and Kohli’s followers into a frenzy, and when India won, coach Rahul Dravid was asked what was in the food delivery that made Kohli laugh out loud.
The fourth India vs. Australia Test, which is now being played in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, is the full-length feature film version of what the Delhi Test just hinted at in terms of how much Kohli enjoys food. Kohli was shown on video waiting at the second slip before the 22nd over, munching on a snack as Marnus Labuschagne prepared to bat. Before the ball was delivered, the former India captain was seen eating what looked like a protein/energy bar, which he then hid in his pocket.

Once Labuschagne defended it, Kohli immediately reached into his pocket and pulled out the bat again. But he wasn’t enjoying it all by himself this time. Kohli passed the bar to Shreyas Iyer, who was stationed at the third slip next to him. Kohli eventually tossed it to Iyer, who stuffed it inside his pocket as the game continued. Unexpectedly, Mohammad Shami bounced back with elegance two balls later and took out Marnus Labuschagne for the second Australia wicket to fall.
Back in the heart of things, Kohli was relentlessly encouraging the audience to rally behind Team India. Earlier, before the commencement of the Ahmedabad Test, Kohli and India skipper Rohit Sharma stood next to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the PM joined the Indian team in singing the National Anthem. Even though Modi visited with all of the squad members, his time with Kohli was welcomed with the most applause.
Kohli was in a good mood since he and his teammates had just finished celebrating Holi, which occurred before the start of the Test match. Kohli was seen singing “Calm Down” in a video released by Shubman Gill, along with the rest of Team India, wishing their supporters a happy Holi. Kohli was given some colour by Rohit Sharma aboard the team van, as shown in another video released by the BCCI.
