“When two lords are batting at the same time it’s bound to happen” – Twitter reacts after JioCinema viewership peaked at 14M when Shardul Thakur and Rinku Singh were batting in KKR vs RCB match

The ninth game of the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders turned out to be a spectacular contest at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The RCB bowlers tried their maximum best to keep the KKR batters silent in the first 12 overs. In fact, they even succeeded in taking five wickets and KKR were stuttering at 89 runs. Just as when the game was completely tilting towards RCB’s side, Shardul Thakur played a gem of an inning.

The bowling all-rounder played the best innings of his IPL career as he scored a quickfire 50 off just 20 deliveries. He scored a magnificent 68 off 29 balls where he struck as many as nine fours and three hits over the fence at a strike rate of 234.48.

Apart from Shardul Thakur, even Rinku Singh played his part by scoring boundaries and sixes when it mattered the most. Rinku Singh scored 46 off 33 balls where he smacked two fours and three sixes at a strike rate of over 140.

In the process, the duo constructed a magnificent 103-run partnership for the sixth wicket, which is also one of the best partnerships in the history of the Indian Premier League.

Just as when the duo were batting superbly well, JioCinema viewership recorded 14 million. Kolkata Knight Riders posted a humongous total of 204/7 in their designated quota of 20 overs.

In response, Royal Challengers Bangalore were reduced to bits and pieces in the run-chase as they were bowled out for 123 runs, in what was a disappointing loss to Faf du Plessis and Co.

Varun Chakravarthy was the pick of the bowlers for KKR as he accounted for four dismissals in 3.4 overs, giving away 15 runs. Suyash Sharma and Sunil Narine took three and two wickets respectively.
