For the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League, Australian fast bowler Jason Behrendorff is traded from Royal Challengers Bangalore to the Mumbai Indians

RCB paid INR 75 lakh (approximately $93,600) for Behrendorff’s base price of INR 1 million (approximately $1,500,000) at the 2022 IPL auction. The pacer was on Mumbai’s roster from 2018–2020, but he saw action only in 2019, the year they won the Indian Premier League. In that season, he had an economy rate of 8.68 with five wickets in five games. Behrendorff played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2022 and the Chennai Super Kings in 2021 before joining the Mumbai Indians ahead of 2023.

In 9 T20 Internationals, he has played, the left-arm fast has taken 7 wickets, with a high of 4/21.

In the previous season of the league, the Mumbai Indians performed poorly and ultimately ended up last. Even so, Royal Challengers Bangalore made it to the IPL playoffs this year, where they were ultimately eliminated by the Lucknow Super Giants.

Before this season, Behrendorff made five total appearances for Mumbai Indians in 2018, during which he took two wickets.

In the previous season, Mumbai Indians had a terrible showing, and they ended up in last place. MI only won four of their 14 league games, but they discovered promising young players like batter Tilak Varma, and youngster Dewald Brevis impressed with his power-hitting.

For the 2023 edition, the auction will most likely occur in the winter of this year, around the month of December. Virat Kohli, an Indian batter, announced last year that he would be stepping down as captain of the Bangalore franchise, and the season saw Faf du Plessis take over the role.

Now, it remains to be seen how Jason Behrendorff perform after coming back to Mumbai Indians for the next season of the Indian Premier League.
