"You should open the bat and middle the ball instead" - Twitter reacts after KL Rahul said he is open to bat in the middle order if the team wants that

India’s star batsman KL Rahul recently opted out of the three-match ODI series against the Kiwis for personal reasons. The Bengaluru-born cricketer tied the knot with Bollywood actress and longtime girlfriend Athiya Shetty on January 23.

After his marriage, he returned to the nets where he was seen gearing up for the Border Gavaskar Trophy series against the Australian cricket team. The pictures of the same went viral on the internet.

Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named the squad for the first two Tests against the Aussies. KL Rahul is part of the squad for the first two Tests. It will be quite interesting to see how KL Rahul goes about his business in the upcoming Test series.

KL Rahul came under fire for his inconsistency as he has been chipping in with a series of low scores in international cricket. However, he has a great chance to make a strong statement and make his presence count in the upcoming Test series.

KL Rahul said he is open to bat in the middle order

While speaking to the reporters ahead of the first Test, KL Rahul expressed that he is open to bat in the middle order if the team wants that. In the last few games, KL Rahul has been proving himself that he can be a team player who is willing to help the team fix the leaks.

Earlier, during the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, KL Rahul came out to bat in the middle order wherein he chipped in with valuable knocks down the order. With the emergence of young talent like Shubman Gill, it is highly unlikely that KL Rahul will be sent out to bat as an opener alongside Rohit Sharma for the Test series.

The team management might send Shubman Gill instead of KL Rahul to bat as an opener with Rohit Sharma. The first Test between India and Australia will be held on February 9 in Nagpur.
