The 56th game of the IPL 2023 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals witnessed so many bright things from the Royals’ perspective. RR head coach and Director of Cricket Operations, Kumar Sangakkara deserve all the credit for backing and supporting the youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Yashasvi Jaiswal turned into an absolute beast while playing against Kolkata Knight Riders. He started the game by smashing 26 runs in the first over of the game and there was no stopping him since then.

The young southpaw went about his business and hit the fastest fifty in the history of the IPL. He surpassed KL Rahul’s record of 14-ball fifty by smashing a fifty in just 13 balls. He also became the first player from India to score more than 500 runs in IPL 2023.

Batting first, Kolkata Knight Riders didn’t really put up a good total on the board. The two-time IPL champions posted 149/8 in their designated quota of 20 overs. Venkatesh Iyer scored 57 off 42 balls including 2 fours and 4 sixes.

In response, Rajasthan Royals largely benefitted from the services of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson. The duo added a century partnership off just 58 balls. Overall, the duo added an unbeaten 121-run stand for the second wicket.

Yashasvi Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 98 off 47 balls where he composed his innings with the help of 13 boundaries and five hits over the fence at a strike rate of 208.51. On the other hand, Sanju Samson remained unbeaten on 48 off 29 balls including 2 fours and 5 sixes. RR beat KKR by nine wickets in just 13.1 overs.
