PSG compete with Barcelona to sign Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante this summer
Paris Saint-Germain has reportedly entered the race to sign N’Golo Kante, as reported by SPORT of Spain. The French champions would want to beat out Barcelona for the services of the Chelsea midfielder and bring him to Parc des Princes.
This season will be the last for the 31-year-old midfielder’s contract. Chelsea has not been able to reach an extension agreement with him about his current deal. It seems likely that the player will sign with a new team as a free agent after the season.
When the transfer market reopens in January, overseas teams like Barcelona and PSG will be allowed to sign pre-contract agreements with the French national team midfielder. It would be fascinating to see whether PSG can swoop in and persuade the World Cup-winning midfielder to return to his native France instead of joining Barcelona.
According to SPORT’s story, tensions between the two European powerhouses have been building for some time. And to make matters more complicated for Barcelona, PSG has joined the battle for Kante. Reports have surfaced, though, that Barcelona is getting closer to signing the Chelsea midfielder.
According to SPORT, PSG is presently conducting exploratory negotiations to win over the player and boost his asking price. In the following weeks, it will be intriguing to observe whether the French champions make a solid bid for the Chelsea midfielder.
However, Barcelona is currently holding off on making any decisions on a transfer until they see how Kante recovers from his present injury. When healthy, the 31-year-old is unquestionably a first-rate player, and he might be a fantastic addition to the Catalan club. As Sergio Busquets, a legend in Barcelona’s midfield is slated to leave the club shortly, Kante may be brought in to take his position.
The Frenchman, though, has been plagued by a series of nagging injuries over the last several years. The question of whether or not the Chelsea midfielder can overcome these obstacles and return to form remains. If the 31-year-old can get over his injury issues, whoever of Barcelona or PSG ends up landing him on a free transfer will receive a steal.
