The first Test between Bangladesh and India took place in Chattogram recently and it was a must-win game for the Indians because they were in pursuit of keeping their WTC final hopes alive.

On the other hand, Bangladesh were yet to beat Team India in Tests, which made the equation quite interesting and intriguing, especially after the Tigers scripted a 2-1 ODI series win over the Men in Blue.

Team India were literally unhappy with how things ended in the ODI series but they ensured to tick all the boxes in the first of the two-match Test series. The visitors won the game by a colossal margin of 188 runs and took the first lead in the series.

After the victory over Bangladesh, Team India pipped Sri Lanka to the third spot in the World Test Championship points table. On the other side of the coin, South Africa surrendered at the hands of Australia in the first Test, which took Team India to second place in the table.

Dinesh Karthik reckons Cheteshwar Pujara should have won the man of the match award ahead of Kuldeep Yadav

India’s senior wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik reckons Cheteshwar Pujara should have been awarded the man of the match for his batting masterclass in the first and second innings against Bangladesh in the first Test.

Pujara scored 90 runs in the first innings before going to slam his 19th century in the longest format of the game. On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav scored 40 runs in the first innings before taking a five-wicket haul.

Even during the second innings, he bowled pretty well and accounted for three dismissals. Overall, he contributed to the team with the bat and ball, scoring 40 runs and taking 8 wickets.

As a result, he was named the man of the match. However, Dinesh Karthik feels Pujara should have bagged the player of the match ahead of Kuldeep Yadav whereas the majority of the netizens feel Kuldeep Yadav deserved the award since it was already a batting-friendly pitch.
